When we launched Splice publicly on September 9, 2024, our goal was simple but ambitious: to make life easier for beauty and wellness professionals by helping them manage bookings, payments, staff, inventory, and client relationships in one place.
One year later, that vision has grown into something much bigger. From Lagos to Abuja and soon across Africa, we’ve become a partner for beauty businesses that want to work smarter, grow faster, and better serve their growing client base.
Today, over 600 businesses trust us, and together we serve tens of thousands of customers who book appointments, make payments, and enjoy seamless experiences every single day. But the journey to this point has been filled with lessons, milestones, and signs of an even bigger future.
So far…
Our first year was about building credibility, trust, and community. That meant going beyond software to create touchpoints where salon and spa owners could learn, connect, and thrive. We achieved this in several ways.
- Events that inspire and empower: From the Beauty Connect Africa in Lagos in 2024 (with a new edition in the works) to the Accelerate & Succeed Masterclass in Abuja in 2025, and a couple of virtual hangouts, we’ve brought hundreds of beauty professionals together to share ideas, sharpen their skills, and discover new ways to grow their businesses.
- Insights that drive growth: Shortly after launch, we released the first edition of the Beyond Beauty Report, a landmark study that revealed how Nigerian customers choose beauty businesses, what keeps them loyal, and what turns them away. A new report is already in the works, set to go even deeper into consumer behaviours and business opportunities.
- Community and conversation: We wrapped season one of the Beyond Beauty Podcast with 10 episodes featuring salon owners, industry leaders, and business experts. The podcast quickly became a go-to resource for beauty entrepreneurs looking for practical advice in their own words.
- Media recognition: Along the way, our work at Splice has been featured in respected publications like TechCabal, Techpoint Africa, Business Day, Beauty in Lagos, ThisDay Newspaper, BellaNaija, among others. Each feature has helped shine a light on the innovation shaping Nigeria’s beauty and wellness space.
All these touchpoints show that while we’re building a much-needed product, we’re also building an ecosystem.
Like any first year, the journey hasn’t been without its challenges. But each challenge came with valuable lessons.
- Adoption is a journey: Many beauty businesses were excited about Splice but needed hands-on onboarding. We quickly learned that software is only as powerful as the education and support behind it.
- Customer loyalty is everything: Insights from the first edition of the Beyond Beauty Report confirmed that quality service, word-of-mouth referrals, and rewards are the biggest growth drivers in Nigeria’s beauty industry.
- Local context matters: From instant bank transfers to WhatsApp reminders that work even when email doesn’t, Splice’s most loved features are the ones built for African realities.
- Community wins: Events and podcasts taught us that while beauty professionals want tools, they also want to feel part of something bigger.
As we move into our second year, our focus is shifting from building credibility to scaling impact.
Here’s what’s next:
- New features for growth: Deeper reporting, smarter insights, and even more automation are on the way, all to help beauty and wellness business owners make decisions faster and manage operations effortlessly.
- More events and education: From Lagos and Abuja to new cities, we’ll keep creating spaces where professionals can connect, learn, and grow together.
- Expansion across Nigeria: With a strong foundation in Lagos and Abuja, we’re looking to reach even more states, and soon, enter new African markets where beauty businesses face similar challenges.
This is just the beginning

Splice has gone from a bold idea to a trusted partner for over 600 businesses in just one year. And yet, this is only the beginning of a much bigger story.
Because every booking, every reminder, every smooth payment, and every loyal client is a small step toward something larger: an African beauty industry that’s efficient, data-driven, and built to last.
As I noted when we just launched, the journey doesn’t end with a launch. In fact, that’s when the real work of listening, iterating, and growing alongside the people we serve begins.
